BONJOUR♪Sweet Love Patisserie

This 5 minute long episode series can be found on Crunchyroll. It is still airing but will have 24 episodes all together. It’s set up very much like an otome series with a host of good looking bishi guys surrounding the very cute main character.

You follow Sayuri a very soft spoken girl who has gotten a scholarship into a very prestigious culinary school. Within the school there are three very handsom and different teachers that each have a culinary specialty. They all seem to be drawn to Sayuri and become fast friends with her which seems a little fast and odd. There is also some interesting classmates she has to deal with on a daily basis some who are very annoying and some who are very friendly. The principle of the school is very strict and seems to have some sort of secret that has been hinted at. She also has some connection to Ryo, Sayuri’s classmate who likes her.

It’s a cute series but very short. Some of it is a little silly but its nice sometimes to watch silly sweet things.

What do you think of this series? Who’s your favorite leading male character? What’s your favorite dessert? :3

Shall we date: Ninja Love+

Yet another ninja based otome game from NTTsolemare, it can be bought as a paid version or downloaded as a free version in app stores.

The setting for this game is feudal Japan and you have just been informed that you are the ninja princess. The ninja clans are fighting back against the famous Nobunaga and need you to be the thing that ties the clans together. You find yourself in all sorts of dangerous situations and must pick a protector out of 9 different men. They include ninja, samurai, a doctor and your enemy. Which love will you pick?

I have played through every story except for 2 being: Hanzo the Iga ninja leader, and Rennoshin a doctor. Out of all the stories my favorite ones have been: Munemori the arrogant swordsman and heir to a famous family, and oddly enough Nobunaga the man who wants the world and is the enemy of ninja.

Like with the others each story is different and your reactions change how things can happen. This was a fun one and one of the first games from the “Shall we date” series I played.

Who has been your favorite out of the characters in the game? Let me know in the comments! :3

Kamigami no Asobi

This otome game turned anime aired in 2014 and consists of 12 episodes (wish there were more >_<).

Yui Kusanagi is a normal highschool aged girl living in her family’s Shinto shrine. One day she comes across a sword that takes her to another realm where she meets a host of bishi Gods. She learns from Zeus that he has set up this school and put some of the problem Gods in it along with Yui to help the Gods understand more about humans. If they are not able to accomplish this feat then they will all forever be trapped in this realm.

There are several Gods from: Greek, Japanese and Norse mythology. Each one has personality characteristics having to do with what they are gods over. Yui slowly gets to know each one and they all open up to her eventually. This series was a good one, sometimes with Otome games turned animes I’m not always a fan. This one had lots of funny moments and also serious tones as well. I liked Hades and Takeru the best.

Check this series out and tell me what you think of it! Who is your favorite God?

Shall we date? Destiny Ninja

This is the first Otome game I played from NTT Solmare’s “Shall We Date?” series on my phone. It was the first in every one of their games I’ve now played and are still playing with each one getting a better system going.

Destiny Ninja takes place in the Genpei era of Japan where the Taira and Minamoto clans were in conflict during the latter half of the Heian period. You are a young noble woman who finds herself in the middle of a battle field with no memory of how you got there or of who you are. Right when your about to get an arrow to the face or be attacked a ninja comes to your rescue. You choose which ninja out of 10 different characters:

Enya- The heir to the Fire Village and a well known womanizer. He of course has a soft and weak side.

Hyuga- Also from the Fire Village, he acts nice and polite in front of the groups leader but once away from the leader he shows a different side. He seems uncaring and harsh and seems like he is hiding something.

Kazemasa- From the Wind Village, Kazemasa is quite and distant and can be very harsh and threatening at times. He seems very serious with little emotion, he is very loyal to his leader.

Hyosuke- From the Water Village. The youngest looking member in the group who has a huge chip on his shoulder. He seems hyper and nice some of the time and at others you see his twisted killer personality take over when the enemies are mentioned or are present.

Sohma- This is the only character I have yet to play, will update when finished.

Mizuki- From the Water Village, he is very quite and doesn’t have a strong personality. Once you get past his wall he is a fine protector who is kind and loyal.

Benkei- He is from the Minamoto Clan and was once a monk. Benkei’s story cracked me up many times. He is sweet and caring but unfamiliar with dealing with a female and so many awkward situations arise.

Yoshitsune- The  leader of the group from the Genji Clan and the one who pulls everyone together. His followers would give their lives in an instant for him. He is kind and thoughtful using strategy and thought over brute force.

Goyo- From the Mainland. Goyo is flamboyant and showy with fine tastes and refines actions. He doesn’t seem to be just a normal Ninja does he?

Noritsune- On the enemy side from the Heishi he seems to know you from before you lost your memory. He is kind and a good leader like Yoshitsune. He is young hearted and loyal.

Once saved you are thrown in on an adventure to recover your lost memories and the Three Sacred Treasures which may be the key.

I enjoyed this game which is free to play, you have a certain amount of energy to use every day and go through check points but you can also buy things to set you on a faster path. I don’t mind the check points and things since I play so many I just go through each one and do the daily reward and training until I can pass the check points. Some of the games have a paid to play version where you just make one transaction and buy a story which sometimes is defiantly worth it but not necessary to enjoy playing the games.

Have you played any of these games? What did you think about it? Did you have a favorite character? Tell me in the comments!

Otome Games

Literally meaning “Girl Games” this genre of gaming is directed at mainly girls, go figure. There are Otome games on pretty much every gaming platform but are mainly only released in Japan with a few exceptions that are released in English. The games usually revolve around a female character who you control by making various different choices that decide the outcome of the game.  You usually have a host of different male characters to pick from in the story who will be your love interest. The style for most are based very much on the Shojo style of manga and the plot lines can be about most anything. The genre is fairly new having the first Otome game released in 1994. Since then the genre has grown considerably and have not only girls but some guys as well play through them like an addiction.

The game is basically a virtual novel where you move the story along with dialog choices.  There are also pictures that provide setting and ambiance. I have played several games from the genre, the first being a DS game called “Princess Debut”. It was fun making various choices to play out your own little story. Since then I’ve played nearly every game and through nearly every character in the “Shall we date” series apps on my touch screen phone. There are also several notable anime series that were made from Otome games, I usually refer to those types of anime as “Harem” anime.

I’ll post reviews and short summaries soon covering various Otome games so stay tuned!
