~First Impressions: Wakako Zake~ It will make you hungry!

Wakako Zake is a cute short anime series that only consists of around 12 episodes lasting a mere 2 minutes long. Right away you notice the amusing artwork of the main character who is a 26 year old business woman who seems to spend all her off work time eating very certain things in certain ways. The food she eats looks delicious so do not watch this anime on an empty tummy!

Check it out on Crunchyroll and tell me what you think about it in the comments!

First Impressions : Silver Spoon

When “Silver Spoon” first popped up on Netflix I was skeptical but once I began watching it I found it very enjoyable, as did my step daughter. It is a very simple series in a refreshing way. Be warned though this series will make you very hungry at times!

The story follows Hachiken who transfers to a agriculture high school to study and get away from his overbearing family. He seems like a bit of a privileged kid compared to the other students who all come from farming family’s and who all have their minds set on agricultural fields career wise. Hachiken makes friends with many of his classmates and begins to really enjoy his school even though he has to work very hard morning to night. He learns many things about the way farms are run and how to take care of animals. I felt like I was learning right next to him!

Each of his friends is interesting and they all have their individual back grounds and dreams that they are working towards. You get to know each one and the hard ships they face throughout the series. I find the story telling very simple and a nice change of pace from some of the other anime I watch. Defiantly check this one out.

First Impressions: ~Monster Musume~ (mature anime)

Okay, so I had been a little familiar with the series “Monster Musume” quite a while ago as it was a random manga I had looked at while at the bookstore. Very quickly when you look through a few pages you know exactly what kind of manga it is, ecchi overflowing. I thought it was amusing but not enough to read through and get into the story. Now fast forward and the anime version is being released. I figured “eh why not” and checked it out, now I can’t wait for the episodes to come out fast enough!

The anime is so awkwardly hilarious, I find myself laughing throughout every episode. The shenanigans these monster girls get into are crazy and super amusing through and through! But be warned this is a mature anime, lots of boobies and questionable actions.

The story revolves around a young man named Kimihito who takes on monster girls (being forced to originally) for a homestay exchange program. The knowledge of different humanoid species has been acknowledged by the government and so to learn more about each other they have made it to where other species can come stay in the human areas to learn. Kimihito winds up with seven girls to take care of all of different species.

This series is so funny and as long as you are old enough defiantly check it out! Have you read or watched this series? Tell me what you think about it! Which girl is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

First Impressions: KINMOZA!

Kin-iro Mosaic also known as Kinmoza! is one of my latest finds to watch. Right away the animation is super cute, and light hearted which is always nice to relax and watch. The story revolves mainly around two girls from different parts of the world who are brought together by their interest in the other one’s culture.

Shinobu Omiya is a happy energetic Japanese school girl who, while in junior high stayed at a homestay program to England where she met the adorable (much to Shino’s happiness, blond) girl, Alice Cartelet. Their first bit of time together is difficult for Alice because of the language barrier and her shyness. She quickly sees Shino’s charm and they become closer even if they can not understand each other very well. Their blooming friendship makes Alice fall in love with Japan and spurs her into learning the language and culture so that she can study in Japan to be with Shino.

Shino and Alice are surrounded by fun friends who all have their unique personality. They all seem to enjoy their school lives and enjoy each others friendship dearly. There is defiantly some shojo-ai in the mix that is comedic and sweet because of the jealousy and interests of some of the girls.

First impression is I love it! It is super cute and light! The artwork is fun and colorful, and there is just the right amount of silly >_<. If you like anime like this, check It out!

~Ranma 1/2~ Don’t get wet!

Ranma 1/2 was the second series I was introduced to that was created by Rumiko Takahashi the first being “Inuyasha”. There are 38 volumes of manga, over 150 episodes of anime and even a few full-length films. I always thought this series was very comedic and silly but also had a few serious moments here and there that made you closer to the characters. Warning, however, there is lots of boobies all throughout the series, it is mainly about a boy who gets turned into a girl if he gets wet with cold water so…yeah he has no shame. 6_6

The story revolves around a boy named Ranma, who fell into a cursed spring along with his father on a training mission. The aftermath of them falling into the spring Ranma turns into a girl any time he is splashed with cold water, and his father turns into a large panda. They come to live with another family the Tendo’s who own a dojo. Ranma is betrothed to one of the three daughters, and it is decided the lucky girl is tough as nails Akane who seems to think Ranma is irritating and a clod. The hilarity ensues as multiple love triangles form, and each person has their own curses and past.

A large part of the plot is the various types of martial arts each person uses to fight with. Some of the moves are wacky but none the less interesting. Lots of rivalries occur between the characters, and the fights are always entertaining and fun. Check it out and let me know what you think about this series!

~My Love Story! ( Ore Monogatari!)~

My Love Story! is a manga as well as an anime series that is airing on Crunchyroll. It is so funny and good! It centers around a behemoth of a high school boy named Takeo, his good looking apathetic friend Makoto and the super sweet and cute girl Yamato.

Takeo is used to never being liked by the opposite sex since all the girls always go for his best friend, Suna. He is loyal, strong and quite the hero without thinking about it very much. He is a goob much of the time to Suna’s great amusement. One day he saves a girl Yamato from a train pervert and immediately falls in love with her. After several misunderstandings on his part, they start dating making a very awkward first love couple that is very cute and silly.

There is a lot of emphasis on not judging a book by its cover and making sure to get to know people for who they are and not what they look like. So far I love this anime and have laughed so hard several times at some of the crazy antics this boy gets into. Defiantly check this one out!

~My love from another star~

Okay so I just began watching this series about three days ago and right away am extremely impressed. It is very well written and put together. The director has done a great job and the story is fantastic. The characters all have very individual personality’s and its not just another fluffy romance drama. It is serious and has a lot of darker things in the background.

It centers around a cold and distant alien from another star Do Min Joon who has been on earth for 400 years, he once loved a young girl that he met when he first arrived. The girl died from helping him and so he is against interfering with other humans. He begins to change however when he meets the famous actress Cheon Song Yi who years before the main story time looked exactly like the girl he loved 400 years before.

Song Yi is arrogant and a little dumb often misspeaking and then having to deal with the tornado of rude, cruel comments from people online judging her every move. Song Yi is close friends with Lee Hwi Kyung who is the second son of a large corporation, he has also been in love with Song Yi for nearly 14 years. He is protective and a little pushy when it comes to Song Yi, he does not like Min Joon at all. Hwi Kyung has an older brother Lee Jae Kyung who you realize right away is not a good guy, in fact he is a very bad man who kills anyone who gets in his way.

There is a lot of awkwardness here and there when it comes to Song Yi’s somewhat ignorant attitude but after awhile you find yourself liking her a bit more. There is a lot of things going on right off the bat and find yourself pulled into this fantastic drama.

Have you watched this drama before? What did you think of it? Did you like it or maybe not? Let me know in the comments! :3

~Toradora~

Originally a light novel series and manga, this series became a 25 episode anime in 2008.

The main male lead is Ryuji Takasu who is entering his second year of high school and worries about how he looks. He inherited his absent fathers gangish looks and so many are afraid of him. He has at least one friend Kitamura who realizes he isn’t scary at all. One of Kitamura’s friends Kushieda also seems to know he isn’t a delinquent and greets him warmly. It becomes very apparent that Ryuji has a uber crush on Kushieda. As his new school year starts he becomes quickly involved with the pint sized “palm-top tiger” Taiga Aisaka who has a crush on Kitamura and is close friends with Kushieda.

Ryuji and Taiga band together to assist the other one in gaining the attention of their respective crushes. Taiga is violent and has a short fuse and so many in the school fear her. Her and Ryuji even though they bicker a lot get along very well and seem to understand each other like many of the others can not.

I was a bit late coming into this series but have really enjoyed it. It’s very comedic and fun with seriousness and awkwardness sprinkled throughout.

The Heirs

This Korean Drama came out in late 2013 and consists of 20 episodes. It stars a fantastic cast which includes: Park Shin Hye, Lee Min Ho, Kim Woo Bin and several others who did an amazing job.

Cha Eun-sang is a poor high school girl who lives with her mute mother, they both work very hard just to get by. Cha Eun-sangs sister has gone to America and Cha Eun-sang follows her only to catch her in several lies that hurts her very much and she is left alone in a foreign land. After she gets into some trouble Kim Tan a boy around the same age helps her out and they get to know each other over a few days. He lives in the lap of luxury and just plays around not taking things seriously. Very quickly he begins to fall for Eun-sang but has to say goodbye as her best friend comes to save her and help her get back to Korea. They figure there is no way they will ever see each other again and their days together were simply a dream.

Back in Korea Eun-sangs mother has moved in to be a live-in maid for her employers, the Jeguk company’s head. Eun-sang has to live there as well and help out while also holding 2 jobs and study for school. The Father of the family is ill and lives with his 1st son who is the standing CEO of the company, and his Mistress who is basically trapped in this large house. The 2nd son returns from over seas from his enforced banishment to be back home with his family. Of course it is Kim Tan who is the illegitimate child of the Jeguk group but is registered as the child of the legal wife. His brother Won fears that he will try to take the company from him and is very bitter and hateful towards Tan even though Tan loves him above everyone else. Won moves out angry that Tan has gone against his wishes and returned home.

Tan quickly finds out that he is living with Eun-sang and sees his chance. Eun-sang gets put in the Jeguk’s group private school and thrown into a world of privileged, spoiled, bratty teenagers. She becomes the point of affection for not only Tan but his rival and former best friend Choi Young-do. Young-do is the Heir to a large Hotel and is very cruel and rough most likely because of his bitterness towards his horrible abusive father and that his mother ran away years before. He resents Tan thinking it’s his fault for missing his last chance to see his mother and so takes it upon himself to constantly harass Eun-sang. It is quickly seen that he does have real feelings for Eun-sang but doesn’t really know how to show them and so he acts out and does bad things just to get her attention.

Eun-sang has to deal with the hierarchy of the school and because of Tan has to lie about her place in the ranks so she wont be picked on. She has to deal with Rachel, Tan’s fiancé who is a big b**ch. Everyone is all tied together in this small world of Heirs. There are arranged marriages, company marriages, love triangles, affairs, relationships, servitude and several other connections. It’s a hard world to be thrown into when you are from a serving background and have to work every minute of everyday to live. Eun-sang has a rollercoaster time and drama is around every corner.

There is so much that happens in this series I couldn’t get enough of it and consumed it in just a few days. I loved the characters and the acting was great. This series defiantly has made it on the top 5 K-dramas list for me. My favorite character was Choi Young-do and I wanted him to catch a break sometime. He was a horrible person in the start but really evens out and is kind and helpful though still an ass much of the time. There were several background characters, all with stories and ties and I think it was very well written.

BONJOUR♪Sweet Love Patisserie

This 5 minute long episode series can be found on Crunchyroll. It is still airing but will have 24 episodes all together. It’s set up very much like an otome series with a host of good looking bishi guys surrounding the very cute main character.

You follow Sayuri a very soft spoken girl who has gotten a scholarship into a very prestigious culinary school. Within the school there are three very handsom and different teachers that each have a culinary specialty. They all seem to be drawn to Sayuri and become fast friends with her which seems a little fast and odd. There is also some interesting classmates she has to deal with on a daily basis some who are very annoying and some who are very friendly. The principle of the school is very strict and seems to have some sort of secret that has been hinted at. She also has some connection to Ryo, Sayuri’s classmate who likes her.

It’s a cute series but very short. Some of it is a little silly but its nice sometimes to watch silly sweet things.

What do you think of this series? Who’s your favorite leading male character? What’s your favorite dessert? :3
